Us carton shipments decline

According to the statistical report of the American carton Association, the shipment volume of the corrugated box industry in the United States decreased by 1.2% over the same period last year. The carton industry shipped 31.188 billion square feet (BS), up from 31.56 billion square feet (BSF) in may2004. Based on the weekly average, the U.S. National shipment volume in May decreased by 5.9% compared with the same period last year. The total consumption of carton board in May was 2.42 million tons, down 0.4% from 2.43 million tons in May 2004. As of the end of May, the total amount of surface parts with stable size and UV resistance in carton board inventory was 2.19 million tons, down 3.6% from 2.27 million tons in April.
